Darius Rucker is set to release a revealing project titled Life’s Too Short: A Memoir by Darius Rucker in 2024. The book details the ups and downs of fronting one of the world’s biggest bands of the ‘90s, the Grammy-winning Hootie and the Blowfish, and his foray into the country format that ultimately led to becoming one of the genre’s most prominent musicians. The “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It” singer admits that the book is a candid admission.

“I was pretty honest in this book, maybe a little too honest, so…You know what? It was time,” Darius reveals. “Somebody asked me if I wanted to write a book and my kids are all adults now, and it just seems like it was a good time to write a book, and I hope people enjoy it. I hope people learn a little bit about me from it.”

Darius Rucker recounts the stories through impactful songs by legendary artists like Prince, KISS, R.E.M, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and his own catalog of timeless hits.

“If I look back at my life and try to see into my past, everything seems blurry. But then I lean in and start to hear something. Melodies. Chords. Harmonies. Lyrics. This book is the story of my life as told through twenty-three songs that took me away, soaring, starting at ground level, living in a poor but happy home, never wanting for much more, enjoying what I had, even when times got tough, because I had my escape, my refuge, my music,” Darius says.

Where To See Darius Rucker On Tour in 2024

Along with releasing his memoir, Darius Rucker will spend April and much of May on a solo global tour featuring opening act Tyler Booth. He’ll visit Germany, Ireland, and Switzerland before wrapping the jaunt in the United Kingdom. Then, Hootie and the Blowfish launches the Summer Camp with Trucks tour, a 43-date tour. Collective Soul and Edwin McCain will join the can’t-miss summer show, which stops at several iconic stadiums including Fenway Park in Boston. Tickets are available now.

Founding member Mark Bryan says, “Basically overnight, our lives changed when Cracked Rear View did what it did – and yet as we quickly moved from vans and college bars to tour busses and arenas, not much else changed with how we approached making music and sharing it with our fans. Edwin McCain told someone at the time that touring with us felt like summer camp with trucks… and that’s exactly how we want next year to feel, too. We can’t wait for you to join us!”

The Hootie and the Blowfish tour launches in May of 2024 and winds down in September.

Darius Rucker is a three-time Grammy award-winning American singer, guitarist and songwriter.
