Eric Church will be part of a special Monday Night Football halftime performance celebrating one of the most significant nights in New Orleans sports history.

Church will join Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue during the halftime show as the New Orleans Saints host the Atlanta Falcons at Caesars Superdome on Monday, October 5.

The New Orleans Saints announced Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will headline the Meta Halftime performance, with Church appearing alongside Kirk Franklin, Juvenile, Cyril Neville, and Ivan Neville.

The performance will air nationally on ESPN.

Eric Church Part of New Orleans’ ‘Domecoming’ Celebration

Monday night’s game marks the 20th anniversary of the Saints’ historic return to the Superdome following Hurricane Katrina.

The Saints returned to the stadium on September 25, 2006, for a Monday Night Football matchup against the Falcons. New Orleans won 23-3 in a night that became about much more than football as the city continued its recovery from the devastation of Katrina.

The anniversary celebration will recognize members of the 2006 Saints team while highlighting New Orleans music and culture throughout the night.

Trombone Shorty has a direct connection to the original reopening celebration. He performed during the 2006 Monday Night Football broadcast alongside U2 and Green Day and will return 20 years later to lead the halftime performance.

Church also has history with Trombone Shorty. Earlier this year, the country star performed at Shorty Turns 40, Trombone Shorty’s 40th birthday concert at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans.
