What Is The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping About?
Directed by Francis Lawrence and based on Suzanne Collins' bestselling novel, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping takes audiences back to Panem 24 years before the events of the original Hunger Games story.
The film follows 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, as he is selected to compete in the 50th Annual Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. This year's competition features twice the usual number of tributes.
Inside the arena, Haymitch forms an alliance with fellow District 12 tribute Maysilee Donner, played by Mckenna Grace, as they attempt to challenge the Capitol's control.
The cast also includes Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, along with Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak, and Kelvin Harrison Jr.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping opens in theaters November 20, 2026.
