Country Music Hall of Fame member Randy Travis is preparing to release his first album of previously unreleased original music in more than 18 years, and fans now have another preview of the project with the release of “I Don’t Care.”

The upcoming album will feature recordings uncovered from throughout Randy’s career and prepared for release by his longtime producer, Kyle Lehning. An official album title, exact release date, and complete track list have not yet been announced, but the record is expected to arrive later in 2026.

“Fish On” introduced the project in July, followed by “I Don’t Care” in August. Both songs feature Randy’s original vocals from recordings that had remained unreleased for years.

Here’s what we know so far about Randy Travis’ upcoming album, including the songs already released, how the recordings were brought out of the vault, and when fans can expect the full project.

When Will Randy Travis’ New Album Be Released?

Randy Travis’ upcoming album is expected to arrive later in 2026, with additional music from the project being released ahead of the album.

What Kind of Music Will Be on Randy Travis’ New Album?

The album will be made up of previously unreleased original Randy Travis recordings discovered in the vault.

Lehning, who produced many of Randy’s most important albums and songs, uncovered the tracks after they had been stored away for years. He has assembled, remixed, and remastered the recordings to prepare them for release.

The project gives Randy the opportunity to revisit songs that were recorded years ago but never officially released, bringing his unmistakable voice back to fans through recordings that have remained unheard.

Although the album is being described as Randy’s first album of new material in more than 18 years, these are archival recordings rather than an entirely new collection recorded in 2026.

“Fish On” Is the Album’s First Single

“Fish On” was released July 10, 2026, as the first song from the upcoming album.

The upbeat country song follows a lifelong love of fishing that begins with a cane pole and a visit to a grandfather’s pond. Its traditional arrangement includes fiddle, steel guitar, and the unmistakable country sound associated with Randy’s earlier recordings.

Randy Travis Releases “I Don’t Care”

Randy offered another look at the upcoming album with the August 7 release of “I Don’t Care,” the second previously unheard recording to emerge from the vault.

Written by Randy with Michael Curtis, “I Don’t Care” takes a much different emotional direction from “Fish On.” The song tells the story of a relationship broken by betrayal and the realization that the trust and love the couple once shared may be beyond repair.

As the narrator processes the end of the relationship, the hurt eventually gives way to resignation, reaching the point where he no longer knows — or cares — what happens next.

Like the other recordings being prepared for the upcoming album, “I Don’t Care” was uncovered by Lehning, who assembled, remixed, and remastered the track for its 2026 release.

The song also gives listeners another example of what they can expect from the vault project: Randy’s original vocals paired with the traditional country storytelling and production that helped define his career.

“I Don’t Care” is available to stream and download now.

Is the New Randy Travis Album Made With AI?

The upcoming album is a collection of previously recorded Randy Travis songs from the vault that have been assembled, remixed, and remastered by Kyle Lehning.

That makes the project different from Randy’s 2024 single “Where That Came From,” which used artificial intelligence to help recreate Randy’s voice around a vocal performance recorded by singer James Dupré.

The songs on the upcoming album instead feature Randy’s own previously recorded vocals.

The New Music Arrives 40 Years After Storms of Life

The return to Randy’s vault comes during another milestone year for the country legend.

2026 marks the 40th anniversary of his debut album, Storms of Life, which was originally released in 1986 and helped establish Randy as one of the defining voices of a new generation of traditional country music.

Randy has also continued connecting with fans through his More Life Tour. The tour features Randy alongside his original touring band and guest vocalist James Dupré, with performances of songs from throughout his career accompanied by video highlights.

The tour is scheduled to wrap its current run this fall.
