Roger Miller Exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame

A new Nashville exhibit celebrating the life, music, humor, and career of Roger Miller opens this November with artifacts tied to “King of the Road,” his Grammy-winning years, Broadway success, and more.

Country music fans planning a trip to Nashville have a new exhibit to add to their itinerary.

Roger Miller: Wit, Wisdom, and Wonder opens November 6, 2026, at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in downtown Nashville. The exhibit will remain open through March 1, 2028, giving visitors more than a year to see items connected to Miller’s music, songwriting, television career, and Broadway work.

Miller, who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1995, became one of country music’s most recognizable entertainers with songs including “King of the Road,” “Dang Me,” and “Chug-a-Lug.” His career also stretched well beyond country radio. He won 11 Grammy Awards during 1965 and 1966 and later became the first country artist to win a Tony Award.

What You’ll See Inside the Roger Miller Exhibit

For fans who enjoy seeing the objects behind country music history, several of the pieces planned for the exhibit have direct ties to some of Miller’s biggest career moments.

Among the highlights is Miller’s 1963 Gibson C-1E nylon-string guitar, which he used to write, record, and perform some of his biggest songs, including “King of the Road.”

Visitors will also be able to see the credit card application where Miller began writing lyrics to “King of the Road.” It is displayed with a small wooden carving of a hobo that helped inspire him to finish the song.

Other artifacts range from his childhood and early career to his years as an award-winning entertainer, including the fiddle he received around age 10, his U.S. Army shirt, Grammy Awards, handwritten song ideas, a 1965 Honda motorcycle, and a Manuel Cuevas western shirt.

The exhibit will also include Miller’s Tony Award for writing the score for the Broadway musical Big River, along with the tuxedo he wore to the 1985 Tony Awards. Big River won seven Tony Awards, including Miller’s award for Best Original Score.

A short film produced by the museum and narrated by Marty Stuart will be part of the exhibit, along with rare footage from Miller’s television appearances and performances.

Opening Weekend Could Be the Best Time for Roger Miller Fans to Visit

Travelers who can plan their Nashville trip around opening weekend will have an additional Roger Miller event to attend.

On Saturday, November 7, the museum will host a panel discussion featuring Miller’s wife, Mary Miller; Country Music Hall of Fame member and longtime friend Bill Anderson; and Randy Hart, who spent eight years as Miller’s musical director and bandleader.

The discussion begins at 2:30 p.m. in the museum’s Ford Theater and will include archival photos, audio, and video from the museum’s collection. It is included with museum admission, although a separate program ticket is required.

Another exhibit-related program is scheduled for February 6, 2027, when Miller’s son, songwriter Dean Miller, will take part in a Songwriter Session at the museum. He is scheduled to perform and discuss songs written by both his father and himself.

Planning Your Visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is located at 222 Rep. John Lewis Way S. in downtown Nashville, within walking distance of many downtown hotels and attractions.

The museum is currently open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time. According to the museum, most visitors spend about two hours exploring the galleries, while its busiest period is generally between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Visitors hoping for a slower trip through the museum may want to plan for earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon.

The Roger Miller exhibit is included with regular museum admission. Current self-guided admission is listed at $31.95 for adults ages 13 and older and $21.95 for children ages 6 through 12, although travelers should check current pricing before purchasing tickets. Timed admission can be reserved in advance through the museum.

If you want to make a larger country music day out of the visit, the museum also offers add-on tours of Historic RCA Studio B and Hatch Show Print. Both can be paired with museum admission, making the Hall of Fame an easy anchor for several hours in downtown Nashville.

Roger Miller: Wit, Wisdom, and Wonder opens Friday, November 6, 2026, and is scheduled to remain at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum through March 1, 2028.

That long run makes the exhibit easy to work into a future Nashville trip, whether you are visiting for a concert, CMA Fest, the Grand Ole Opry, or simply spending a few days exploring the city’s country music history.

For longtime Roger Miller fans, however, opening weekend offers something extra: the opportunity to see the new exhibit and hear directly from several of the people who knew him best.
