Brad Paisley Completes Tacklebox - Disc 1 With 13-Song Tracklist

The 13-song project pulls from decades of unreleased material, new recordings, and the country sounds that shaped Brad Paisley’s career.

Brad Paisley has officially completed the first chapter of his Tacklebox project.

The Grammy-winning country artist has digitally released Tacklebox - Disc 1 through MCA, bringing together 13 songs that Brad has been rolling out since May. The final three tracks, “Who Knew,” “Tell Them Your Life Story,” and “It’s Still Goodbye,” complete the project.

Brad named the project Tacklebox because it is “full of hooks, country music hooks.”

Some of the songs come from Brad’s extensive catalog of unreleased and unrecorded material dating back to the 1990s, when his career was first taking shape. Others were written more recently but inspired by the country music of that period.

The project draws heavily from the unmistakable ’90s sounds of Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, and Alabama, along with ’80s-influenced production reminiscent of George Strait, Garth Brooks, and others.

Brad also returned to a familiar recording space for part of the project, recording or re-recording material at The Castle in Franklin, Tennessee, the same studio where several of his early albums were made.

As the songs arrived over the past several months, Brad approached the rollout differently from a traditional album release. Once all 13 tracks were available, the sequencing revealed how he envisioned Tacklebox - Disc 1 being heard as a complete project.

“In this digital age, I have every song I’ve ever written at my fingertips,” Brad said. “There was such freedom in rediscovering the songs for ‘Tacklebox,’ the new ones we wrote, and the order we released them. They came from or were written about a nostalgic time period, a style of writing, and a sound. We wanted to give listeners that special feeling of playing a vinyl album or CD all the way through, if you listened to it top to bottom.”

With Tacklebox - Disc 1, Brad has turned years of unreleased songs, new ideas, and musical influences into a completed 13-track collection while giving fans a look deeper into his songwriting catalog.

The “Disc 1” title also leaves the door open for the Tacklebox concept to continue, fitting Brad’s original description of the project as a way to dig through the songs he has accumulated throughout his career.
