Smart, practical tips to help first-time CMA Fest visitors feel prepared in downtown Nashville.

CMA Fest returns to Nashville June 10–13, 2027, bringing four days of concerts, fan events, and thousands of country music fans into downtown Nashville. Whether this is your first CMA Fest or you have attended before, knowing how to handle crowds, weather, transportation, and unexpected changes can make the weekend much easier.

There will also be one major change in 2027: CMA Fest's nightly concerts are moving to the new Nissan Stadium. Because festival maps, road closures, weather shelters, medical locations, and other safety details can change from year to year, I will continue updating this guide as official 2027 information is released.

How to Get CMA Fest Safety Alerts in Nashville

Before heading to CMA Fest, make sure you have more than one way to receive important festival and emergency updates.

The CMA Connect app is the official CMA Fest app. CMA recommends downloading the app and turning on notifications for the latest festival information. The app also includes schedules, maps, and other CMA Fest updates.

For broader Nashville emergency and weather alerts, visitors can also sign up for MEANS, the Metro Emergency Alert and Notification System. The service can provide notifications by text message, phone call, email, or TTY for situations including severe weather, evacuations, and other public-safety emergencies.

During previous CMA Fests, Nashville emergency officials have specifically encouraged festival visitors to use multiple ways to receive warnings and to follow instructions from CMA Fest staff if severe weather develops.

For CMA Fest 2027, I recommend having both CMA Connect notifications and local weather/emergency alerts enabled before you arrive in downtown Nashville.

What to Do During Severe Weather at CMA Fest

Nashville weather can change quickly in June, so check the forecast before leaving your hotel and keep weather alerts enabled throughout the day.

If severe weather affects CMA Fest, follow instructions from festival staff immediately rather than relying only on information from social media or other fans. CMA Fest and Nashville officials have previously designated specific weather shelters during the festival, but 2027 shelter locations have not yet been released.

Stay Aware in Downtown Nashville Crowds

Downtown Nashville gets extremely busy during CMA Fest. There will be crowds, road closures, long lines, packed sidewalks, and plenty of people trying to get from one stage to another.

Pay attention when walking, especially near intersections, rideshare areas, parking lots, and bridges. It is easy to get distracted by music, photos, and the excitement of the weekend, but staying aware of your surroundings is one of the simplest ways to avoid problems.

If you are traveling with a group, check in with each other throughout the day and make sure everyone knows the general plan.

CMA Fest is full of great photo opportunities, but do not stand in the road to get a picture, unless it’s a closed road. Downtown Nashville traffic, rideshares, buses, police vehicles, and pedestrians are all moving through a very crowded area.

Even if traffic looks stopped, it is not worth the risk. Use sidewalks, pedestrian areas, marked crossings, and safe photo spots instead.

Have a Meeting Spot If Your Group Gets Separated

If you are attending CMA Fest with friends or family, decide on a meeting spot before you split up. Do not rely only on texting, because service may be slow or unavailable in crowded areas.

Choose a specific, easy-to-find location. Instead of saying “meet near the stage,” pick an exact landmark, entrance, sign, or building.

It is also helpful to choose a backup meeting spot near your hotel or where you plan to leave from at the end of the night.

Keep Your Phone Charged and Save Important Information

Between taking photos, using maps, checking schedules, ordering rideshares, and texting your group, your phone battery can drain quickly.

Bring a fully charged portable charger and the correct cord for your phone. If you are going to be out all day and then heading to Nissan Stadium at night, this is one of the most useful items you can pack.

Phone service can be unreliable during CMA Fest, especially when thousands of people are in the same area trying to use their phones at once. Before you head downtown, save important information in more than one place.

Helpful things to save include:

• Your hotel name, address, and phone number

• Emergency contact information

• A photo of your ID

• Your ticket or pass information

• Your group’s phone numbers

• Your transportation plan

• Any medical information someone may need in an emergency

You can save this information in your phone, but it is also smart to have a printed copy in your bag. A small, laminated card or folded paper in a clear pouch can be helpful if your phone dies or service is spotty.

Stay Hydrated and Take Nashville Heat Seriously

CMA Fest days can be hot, crowded, and long. It is easy to get caught up in the excitement and forget to drink water, eat, or rest.

Make hydration part of your plan. Drink water throughout the day, wear sunscreen, and take breaks when you need them. Music City Center can be a good place to cool off during the day if you are attending Fan Fair X or need a break from the heat.

Do not wait until you feel overheated or exhausted to slow down.

Know the CMA Fest Bag and Prohibited Item Rules

Security policies can vary between CMA Fest locations, and bringing the wrong bag or prohibited item can delay your entry.

Before heading downtown, check the current CMA Fest rules and make sure everything you plan to carry is permitted. Because policies can change from year to year — particularly with CMA Fest moving into the new Nissan Stadium in 2027 — I recommend checking the rules again shortly before your trip.

Make a Plan for Leaving Nissan Stadium

CMA Fest will move into the new Nissan Stadium in 2027, so transportation, pedestrian routes, rideshare locations, and post-concert procedures may be different from previous years. I will update this section when the official 2027 transportation and stadium information is released.

Protect Your Personal Information

Keep your identification, payment cards, travel documents, and other personal information secure while you are at CMA Fest. If you are traveling internationally, avoid carrying your passport around downtown unless you need it. When possible, keep it secured at your hotel, and store a secure digital copy of important travel documents in case anything is lost or stolen.

Be careful about what you share publicly online, too. Avoid posting your hotel name, room number, exact travel plans, or other details that reveal where you are staying or when you will be away. It can be tempting to share every part of your CMA Fest trip in real time, but saving some details until after you leave can help protect your privacy.

Be Careful When Meeting People You Only Know Online

CMA Fest Facebook groups can be incredibly helpful for tips, schedule updates, fan club events, and advice from people who have been before. They can also be a fun way to connect with other country music fans.

That said, use caution when making plans with people you do not know personally.

If you decide to meet up with someone from a Facebook group or online post, meet in a public place, preferably during the day or in a busy CMA Fest area. Do not give out your hotel room number, personal cell phone number, full travel itinerary, or private details.

A good rule of thumb: be friendly, but do not overshare.

Keep an Eye on Your Drink

Alcohol is available throughout many parts of CMA Fest and downtown Nashville. If you choose to drink, pace yourself, stay with your group, and keep an eye on your drink.

Do not accept open drinks from strangers, and do not leave your drink unattended. If something feels off, trust your instincts and get to a safer, more public area.

What to Do in an Emergency at CMA Fest

If there is an immediate emergency or a crime in progress, call 911. Nashville officials also recommend reporting suspicious activity to a nearby uniformed police officer when possible.

During CMA Fest, medical teams and first-aid locations are typically positioned throughout the festival footprint. The official 2027 medical and first-aid locations have not yet been released, so I will update this guide when those locations are confirmed.

If severe weather or another emergency affects the festival, follow instructions from CMA Fest staff and emergency personnel and monitor official alerts rather than relying solely on social media posts.
