Marty Roe on How Diamond Rio's Songs Evolve on Stage

For lead vocalist Marty Roe, performing songs on the road is an important part of developing the band's music.

"When it comes to the recording process, we basically just listen to the songs for a few weeks, then go in the studio and begin to work up our presentation of the song," Roe explained.

It's after the recording process, when the band begins performing the music together night after night, that those songs continue to evolve.

"I always believe that a song doesn’t get to its best form until after a year or two on the road," Roe said.

Those changes are captured throughout Diamond Rio Live, particularly in the album's medleys, which feature arrangements and musical influences that go beyond the band's familiar studio recordings.

Diamond Rio Reissues Live Album for a New Generation

With the 2026 reissue, Diamond Rio hopes longtime listeners will revisit the album while introducing the group's music to fans who may not have experienced one of its concerts.

"We’ve been blessed to have a lot of great songs on the radio and that there are people who are still craving them and wanting to hear them," Roe said. "And maybe lots of new people will get the opportunity to hear us live through the reissue of the album."

Throughout its career, Diamond Rio has sold more than 7 million albums, earned six No. 1 country singles, and accumulated more than 1 billion global streams.

The Grand Ole Opry members have also earned four CMA Vocal Group of the Year awards, two ACM Vocal Group of the Year awards, and 14 Grammy nominations, including a Grammy win for The Reason.
