Lacy J. Dalton Celebrates 80th Birthday With Nashville Concert

The Oct. 15 acoustic concert at 3rd & Lindsley will benefit Dalton’s Let ’em Run Foundation and mark a rare Nashville appearance for the country singer-songwriter.

Lacy J. Dalton is celebrating her 80th birthday with a special night of music, stories, and friends in Nashville.

An Acoustic Evening With Lacy J. Dalton and Friends will take place Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at 3rd & Lindsley, just two days after Lacy officially turns 80.

Joining Lacy for the intimate evening are Country Music Hall of Fame member Jimmy Fortune, David Frizzell, Terri Gibbs, Makenzie Phipps, Dale Poune, and Michelle Wright.

The concert will also support Lacy’s nonprofit, the Let ’em Run Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving and rescuing America’s wild horses and burros and helping provide sanctuary and homes for them.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. A limited number of VIP tables are also available for $125 and include four seats. Tickets are available here.

Lacy has given the celebration a fitting nickname of her own.

“I'm calling this my 'Not Dead Yet' Birthday Bash,” shares Lacy. “I'll be 80 years old on October 13, and we are celebrating in a grand way on October 15th! I'm proud to have made it this far. Not everybody can say that! I'm incredibly thankful to all of my friends who are coming out to perform, and hey, you never know, there might be a surprise or two. I don't live in Nashville and only make it back every couple of years, so I want to officially announce that this will be my last Nashville performance... maybe... who knows... could be! I'm kidding!”

Lacy J. Dalton Marks 45 Years of “Takin’ It Easy”

The birthday celebration comes during another milestone year for Lacy, who is marking the 45th anniversary of “Takin’ It Easy.”

Released in July 1981 as the lead single and title track from her third Columbia Records album, “Takin’ It Easy” became the highest-charting single of Lacy’s career, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard country chart.

Lacy co-wrote the song with Billy Sherrill and Mark Sherrill, and it remains one of the signature recordings from a career that helped establish her distinctive mix of country, rock, blues, and soul.
