Grammy Award winner Ricky Skaggs has released “Say A Prayer,” marking his first new music release in more than a decade.

The song is available now on all digital platforms via Skaggs Family Records, distributed by Virgin Music Group.

Written by Gordon Kennedy and Ben Cooper, “Say A Prayer” brings together country, bluegrass and rock influences, with instrumentation that includes sitar, fiddle, mandolin and banjo. The song was written in response to the challenges facing communities around the world and centers on themes of faith, reflection and unity.

“I’m incredibly excited to share my new single, ‘Say A Prayer,’” Skaggs said. “The song addresses a world carrying a lot of grief right now, serving as a universal call for everyone to stop and lean into faith. It’s got a chorus that resonates with faith, country and rock audiences alike.”

Ricky Skaggs Returns With New Music

For Skaggs, “Say A Prayer” continues a career that has helped connect country and bluegrass for more than six decades.

The Country Music Hall of Fame member has earned 12 No. 1 singles, 15 GRAMMY Awards, 13 IBMA Awards, nine ACM Awards and eight CMA Awards, including Entertainer of the Year. He is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry and has been inducted into the IBMA Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, the National Fiddler Hall of Fame, the Musicians Hall of Fame and the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Skaggs founded Skaggs Family Records in 1997 and has released more than 30 albums throughout his career.

Ricky Skaggs Continues Touring With Kentucky Thunder

The release of “Say A Prayer” comes as Skaggs continues a busy touring schedule with his band Kentucky Thunder.

In addition to his own tour dates, Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder are joining Dierks Bentley on select dates of Bentley’s Off The Map Tour. Skaggs is also set to return to Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on July 21 to close out the Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman series.

Ricky Skaggs Appears On ABC’s CMA Fest Special

Skaggs was also featured during ABC’s nationally televised “CMA Fest Presented by SoFi” special. He joined Carly Pearce, Molly Tuttle and Shay Morgan for a performance of “From Now On,” bringing bluegrass instrumentation and harmonies to the CMA Fest stage.

The performance placed Skaggs alongside artists from multiple generations of country and bluegrass, underscoring the continued connection between the two sounds.
