Moody Center in Austin, Texas, has added a permanent tribute to George Strait with the opening of The Troubadour, a backstage lounge honoring his history with the arena.

The lounge was dedicated in 2026 following Strait’s four-night, sold-out return to Moody Center. While fans cannot visit The Troubadour, the space includes several details celebrating Strait’s career and his connection to Texas.

Here’s what’s inside George Strait’s Troubadour lounge, why Moody Center created it, and whether the public can visit.

What Is The Troubadour at Moody Center?

The Troubadour is a backstage lounge at Moody Center dedicated to George Strait.

Designed with the feel of a classic Texas honky-tonk, the space includes a refurbished vintage jukebox programmed with Strait’s music, a burnt orange pool table, a restored neon sign, and other carefully selected décor.

One of the lounge’s most distinctive features is a bronze plaque embedded in the floor that permanently preserves Strait’s boot prints.

The Troubadour is not a public attraction or ticketed fan experience. Located backstage, it is reserved for artist and industry hospitality.

George Strait’s History at Moody Center

George Strait’s connection to Moody Center goes back to the arena’s opening.

In April 2022, Strait performed two nights during Moody Center’s grand opening celebration alongside Willie Nelson & Family and Randy Rogers Band.

He later returned to Moody Center for a four-night, sold-out run that brought more than 60,000 fans to the Austin arena, according to the lounge announcement.

Jeff Nickler, President of Oak View Group Austin and General Manager of Moody Center, described The Troubadour as a tribute to an artist whose music and presence helped define Moody Center from its earliest days.

Strait also shared his appreciation for the dedication and the space honoring the music, memories, and fans connected to his career.

Can Fans Visit The Troubadour Lounge?

No. The Troubadour at Moody Center is not open to the general public.

The lounge is a backstage hospitality space, so access is not included with a standard Moody Center concert ticket, arena tour, or public exhibit.

Although fans cannot walk through The Troubadour, the permanent space adds another connection between George Strait and the Austin arena where he has performed multiple sold-out shows.

Where Is Moody Center?

Moody Center is located at 2001 Robert Dedman Drive in Austin, Texas, on the University of Texas at Austin campus.

The arena opened in April 2022 and hosts concerts, sporting events, and other live entertainment. It is also home to the Texas Longhorns men’s and women’s basketball teams.
