Trace Adkins Talks About The Way I Wanna Go

In this Trace Adkins interview, the country singer talks about making The Way I Wanna Go, the 25-song album he released while celebrating 25 years in country music. I caught up with Adkins backstage at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville during the ACM Honors, where he explained how an unexpected amount of studio time in 2020 eventually turned into the double album.

Adkins said he and his team spent much of 2020 recording because touring had been put on hold. By the end of the process, they had recorded 27 songs. The final album included 25 tracks, matching his 25th anniversary in the music business.

Trace Adkins on Recording The Way I Wanna Go

Trace: “In 2020 we spent the whole year in the studio and we didn't have anything else to do. So we just kept recording and then at the end of it, we ended up with like 27 songs that we had recorded. We kept a couple and put out an album with 25 because this is my 25th anniversary in this business, so it kind of seemed cute. So we did that.”
