Inside the Grammy Museum’s Most Stylish New Exhibit
Taylor Swift’s Vivienne Westwood dress, Sabrina Carpenter’s custom Valentino gown, and an unforgettable Amy Winehouse look are among the pieces now displayed in downtown Los Angeles.

In Los Angeles, the distance between music history and fashion history is often only a few steps - or, in this case, a walk across the third floor of the Grammy Museum.
The museum’s newly refreshed “On the Red Carpet” exhibit brings some of the Grammy Awards’ most memorable fashion moments out of the photo archives and into full view. Featuring pieces from the 50th, 67th and 68th annual Grammy Awards, the display offers a closer look at the craftsmanship, styling and personality behind outfits once seen beneath the flash of hundreds of cameras.

Where Fashion Meets Music History
The surrounding gallery expands the story beyond the garments. “On the Red Carpet” also features photographs by celebrity photojournalist Ron Galella, who documented Grammy arrivals and candid moments throughout the 1970s, ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s.
His images of artists including Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston, and *NSYNC provide a nostalgic counterpoint to the contemporary designs. The photographs capture a period before every red carpet appearance was instantly analyzed online, when a singular image could define the public memory of an evening.
The exhibit is particularly compelling because it treats fashion as more than decoration. At the Grammys, clothing can introduce a new chapter, reinforce an artist’s carefully constructed world or become part of the performance itself. The museum allows visitors to pause over moments that originally passed in seconds.

Make It Part of a Los Angeles Music Weekend
Located at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles, the Grammy Museum spans four floors and combines music artifacts with videos, touch screens, recording experiences and interactive displays exploring more than 160 musical genres.
Plan enough time to explore beyond the red carpet gallery. The museum’s broader collection examines recording technology, musical influences and the history of the Grammy Awards, while its calendar regularly includes artist conversations, performances and special programs. Visitors traveling for a particular event should review the museum’s schedule before choosing a date.
The refreshed “On the Red Carpet” collection is currently scheduled to remain on display through spring 2027, leaving plenty of time to build it into a future Los Angeles trip.

Hours: The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and Monday, closed Tuesday, open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
Admission: General adult admission is currently $22.50. Discounted admission is available for seniors and students, while youth admission is free. Prices and operating hours may change, so travelers should confirm details before visiting.
